- The functions of a typical modem are partitioned between a DSP and a
- microcontroller. The DSP does the hard-core signal processing for
- modulation, demodulation, timing recovery, echo cancellation, etc.
- The controller handles AT-command processing, DSP configuration and
- control, V.42 error-control protocol, V.42bis data compression, etc.
